Pilot Cooling System Pump

Military helicopter pilots can be equipped with special flight suits that incorporate microclimate cooling. Cooling fluid is pumped through the suits by a special pump system driven by a brushless DC motor, keeping the pilot’s body temperature at near normal in harsh environmental conditions.

Allied Motion helped the pump and cooling unit manufacturer achieve required system reliability with a compact, custom KinetiMax brushless DC motor solution. Integrated drive electronics in the motor keep connections to a minimum, and the specially designed housing has an IP54 protection level.

The full motion EO imager system shown here attains continuous pan, +40°/–220° tilt and 200°/sec slew rates using custom-designed Allied Motion brushless torque motors.

Allied Motion offers a “turn-key” electric rotary actuator designed for very rapid lift applications found on vehicles, AGV’s, robots and more.

This next-gen design features an integrated counterbalance mechanism that dramatically reduces supply current draw during high power movements, thereby decreasing total system size and cost while extending battery life.

The RLA is available in two sizes: 500 kg and 1000 kg load capacity
